At community forums across Flinders, I hear the same message repeatedly: "Politicians are all the same – they don't listen to us." This breakdown in trust threatens the very foundation of our democracy, and it's not hard to see why people feel this way when corruption scandals, secret donations, and revolving doors between politics and lobbying dominate the headlines.
As your independent MP, I'll champion reforms that bring transparency and accountability back to politics:
- I support real-time disclosure of all political donations over $1,000
- Expanded powers for the National Anti-Corruption Commission with public hearings as the default
- Enforce strict cooling-off periods before politicians can take lobbying roles.
Having refused corporate donations for my campaign, I'll enter Parliament free to advocate solely for the interests of our Peninsula community – not vested interests or party powerbrokers. Leaders should answer to the people, not their donors.
