Domestic and Family Violence - Creating safety in our community

Domestic and family violence remains one of our community's most urgent and devastating challenges. Behind closed doors across our Peninsula, people are living in fear – and our systems are failing to protect them. I've worked with survivors rebuilding their lives and have seen how inadequate housing options, financial insecurity, and fragmented support services compound their trauma.

This is a complex issue and requires a mix of funding and legal solutions, including:

  • Securing, long-term funding for frontline services that help people escape violence
  • Stronger legal protections that put survivors' safety first
  • Prevention programs that address the root causes of violence.

This isn't just about emergency responses – it's about creating a community where everyone can live free from fear and abuse.

Every person deserves safety in their home and respect in their relationships. As your independent voice, I'll ensure violence against women isn't just discussed when tragedy strikes - but remains a constant priority in Parliament.
