Gambling Reform - Protecting our community from predatory betting

With the highest gambling losses per capita in the world, we're not just talking about a few dollars at the pokies – we're seeing homes lost, relationships destroyed, and lives ruined by an industry designed to exploit vulnerability.

At the Community Support Centre, I've helped families pushed into financial crisis by gambling addiction, and I've witnessed the heartbreaking ripple effects on children and communities. The proliferation of gambling advertising has normalised betting for a new generation, with young people now viewing sports through the lens of odds rather than enjoyment and community.

I'll fight for:

  • A complete ban on gambling advertisements, not just arbitrary "children's viewing hours."
  • Reform of political donations laws that have allowed the gambling industry to buy influence and block meaningful change.

I support a national cashless gambling policy with mandatory pre-commitment limits and cooling-off periods before increases. Our community's well-being must come before gambling industry profits – and as your independent, I won't be silenced by corporate donations or party pressure.
