With over 80% of our region completely unserved by public transport, residents are dependent on their cars for connection to the Peninsula and our communities.
I regularly meet Peninsula seniors who've given up their licenses but can't access medical appointments, young people who can't reach educational opportunities or job interviews, and families forced to own multiple cars just to function. During summer, our inadequate transport infrastructure creates gridlock that frustrates residents and visitors alike.
While public transport is a state issue - I'll champion a comprehensive Peninsula Transport Plan that unlocks federal funding for critical services like expanded rail lines and a fast ferry service connecting the Peninsula to Melbourne and other Port Phillip Bay locations.
This will create an alternative transport corridor to reduce congestion and boost tourism.
