As a small business owner in Flinders for over a decade, I understand the unique challenges Peninsula businesses face. My wife and I started our retail store with a market stall, and we've weathered seasonal fluctuations, rising costs, and mountains of compliance.
Small businesses are the heartbeat of our Peninsula economy, creating local jobs and maintaining our community's character. If elected I will:
- Fight for meaningful tax relief for genuine small enterprises by ensuring businesses in our areas can access appropriate regional concessions
- Expand housing options for essential workers to ensure businesses have the staff they need, especially during peak seasons
- Work across all levels of government to advocate for simplified compliance requirements that don't require expensive consultants to navigate.
From my conversations with local business owners, I know that what they need most isn't handouts – it's a level playing field and government that gets out of the way of their innovation and hard work.
