Peninsula residents face a healthcare system in crisis. Rosebud Hospital is struggling with outdated facilities that can’t keep pace with growing demand, local GPs are abandoning bulk-billing, and many residents drive more than an hour for services that should be available locally.
Every week at the Community Support Centre, I hear from families who can't afford gap fees for doctor visits, seniors skipping dentist trips to pay bills, and people waiting months for specialist appointments. Our community deserves better.
I've listened to my community and will prioritise:
- A comprehensive upgrade of Rosebud Hospital with proper federal funding
- Hold the government to account on their recent promise to restore universal bulk-billing through increased Medicare rebates
- Push to expand Medicare to include basic dental care starting with seniors.
I'll also support innovative solutions like expanded roles for nurse practitioners and mobile health services that bring care to isolated communities. Healthcare isn't a political football – it's a fundamental right, and I'll work across party lines to ensure the Peninsula gets the quality services our community deserves.
